The other day I watched an A&E biography of Jeff Dunham. He's been doing ventriloquism since he was seven, and spent many many years in the wilderness, unable to get jobs bigger than birthday parties and corporate events. But he really really loved doing ventriloquism, and gradually got better at it, and worked his ass off, touring 50 weeks out of the year for two decades.
They showed him doing some local radio promotional spots. He'd show up at some podunk country western 1000-watt local station and plug his show.
The hosts inevitably asked him to "do some bits."
So inevitably he pulled out a dummy and ran some lines.
For the radio.
Not moving his lips.
