Reading reviews of Paolo Bacigalupi, he was compared to William Gibson and Kelly Link. Gibson I was familiar with (sorta...) but Link was a new name to me, so I ordered a used book of her short stories.
So far, the first three stories have been dream-like nonsense, sorta like Jonathan Lethem (who wrote the cover blurb). Ms. Link seems to have a predilection for ghosts and dogs and dead people continuing to do things.
Almost, come to think of it, into Amos Tutola territory.
I will continue to dig.
