- At the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter, public high school students made their way through a lengthy trail of placards, dioramas, and exhibits promoting the idea that mainstream science is a global conspiracy designed to attack “biblical Christianity” and hide the supposed truth that humans coexisted with dinosaurs only dozens of centuries ago. Students were told that Christian faith is incompatible with biology, astronomy, and geology, and urged to reject mainstream science or face an eternity of punishment in hell.
SourceIs it just me, or does the mainstreaming of anti-science sentiment explain (or maybe is a correlation of) the mainstreaming of illogical, irrational political beliefs? I've long worried that the -- no, it's not "dumbing down," it's the outright REJECTION -- of reality has led a really galling percentage of the population to believe that up is down and black is white. I've been worried about the edges of this movement for years. Now its borne fruit. |

Evolution Is Not Happening NowFirst of all, the lack of a case for evolution is clear from the fact that no one has ever seen it happen. If it were a real process, evolution should still be occurring, and there should be many "transitional" forms that we could observe. What we see instead, of course, is an array of distinct "kinds" of plants and animals with many varieties within each kind, but with very clear and -- apparently -- unbridgeable gaps between the kinds. That is, for example, there are many varieties of dogs and many varieties of cats, but no "dats" or "cogs." That's Trumpian logic in a nutshell. The connection is as clear as day. |
