I didn't realize she was white now. Could be the camera, I guess; I have heard that the camera adds 4,000 Kelvins (or was that 12 pounds?).

Photographing black people has always been a bit of a test for the photographer.

I've been thinking this morning, when did The Police become enemies with the general populace?

Was it Prohibition? Was that the first time normal behavior by ordinary people was criminalized?

After that, prohibition was extended to various drugs, and since then certain private behaviors (like homosexuality and gambling) have become crimes. But before 1920, were the police involved in morality enforcement?

Black Lives Matter won't be any different this time, from the HUNDREDS of times before that people have tried to address systemic racism, as long as stupidity and pettiness is allowed to hijack the movement and belittle the goals.

I mean, FFS.  Trader Jose's, racist, really?

I see Seattle's protests yesterday made the international news.  Our local news streamed live coverage for about 4 hours.

It was boring as hell.  The same few dozen BLM protesters, peacefully standing around with signs.

A handful of outside rabble-rousers, intent on destruction, setting fire to some empty construction trailers and breaking windows in local businesses.  These fuckheads suck all the publicity away from the peaceful BLM protesters who have been patiently on the streets for two months straight now.

And Seattle gets called "a riot."

Luckily, no Bill Barr secret police were spotted.  They're still busy agitating and causing trouble down in Portland.

Even John Oliver is pointing out the disparity between the coverage and the situation on the ground.

A 'Wall of Moms' came in to protect the young peoples' right to protest.   They were teargassed by Barr's secret police on Saturday.

On Sunday a wall of US veterans formed to protect the protestors, because that's what they fought to protect.  They were pepper sprayed too.

Did Faux News cover this?  Of course not.

Protests continue around the country.  Ordinarily I would've expected people to grow tired of fruitless protests by now.  This time feels different.

Oregon's governor has apparently won the stand-off.  We'll see how Trump tries to spin this as a win.

Finally Trader Joe's has called 'bullshit' on this, uh, bullshit.

A LOT has happened in the nine months since the last post.

But some things never change: Josh Hawley holds up Biden nomination over critical race theory

What is "critical race theory"? In a nutshell, it's calling bullshit on white supremacy. This country will never get past systemic racism, never overcome ignorance-based arrogance, until a realistic history is put forward and accepted as accurate.

Between 10.5 years and 15 years, unless aggravating circumstances are brought to bear. It could be a lot more.

22.5 years, not "a lot" more but a substantial sentence nonetheless.
