| Deliveries are down, so the PO is hoovering money. If Congress decides not to fund them before September, we could see the privatization of mail delivery. If that happens:
- Fourth-class junk mail will get priority delivery
- Bills and letters and packages will be delivered "as staff is available," maybe weekly in most areas
- Some areas of the country, with low volumes, will lose service altogether
- Accuracy of delivery will plummet, as reputation takes a back seat to profit
- Cost of a stamp will be measured in dollars instead of cents
- Services like return receipt and signature required will either become hugely expensive or disappear altogether
