The book on military artificial intelligence I just finished mentioned that AI without human oversight could get into a loop, where it did the same thing over and over, like the brooms carrying water for Mickey Mouse in “The Sorceror’s Apprentice.”
Made me want to see “Fantasia” again. Made me realize I hadn’t seen it since the much-vaunted digital restoration in, when was it, the 1990s or something. I grew up with this movie, and have seen it a few times since, but not in the last, oh, forty years?
So I ordered the Blu-Ray.
It’s marvelously clear and crisp and of course the Phil sounds fabulous. The animation is not as incredibly-detailed as modern digital Pixar productions, but for 1940 it’s still pretty amazing.
Brings back a lot of fond memories.
