| If you had your choice, which of these cars would you buy? Yeah, I know. The yellow one isn't finished (missing a few things like an engine and wheels). The first person who says, "Mid-life Crisis" will be shot. I left mid-life behind me many years ago. |

| I wouldn't kick either of them out of bed. But I think the yellow paint job is putting me off that one. Paint it red and it's a tougher choice for me. |

| You're right about the yellow, Richard. I'm not crazy about that either. In person, though, it knocks your damn socks off.
I had the grey one for a while, but it's now black with gold racing stripes. Still nice looking, though.

| I have no opinion. For me a vehicle's worth has always been defined by one question: how many sheets of plywood will it hold? |

| Either one will hold hundreds, possibly thousands, of sheets of plywood. Very, very small sheets.

| I have hauled sheets of plywood -- four-foot by eight-foot sheets of plywood, thankyouverymuch -- many many more times than I have ever needed to go 180 mph.
A man can still have a mid-life crisis at 69. You just have to live to 138. |

As have I. But the sticky word here is "needed." Substitute "wanted" (and in this case, substitute 220 for 180). |

| Having a car that goes 220 mph is like being married to a supermodel -- who doesn't put out except on leap day. |

That sort of sums up my argument for luxury rather than speed. I was thinking yesterday when I saw this thread that I just don't get the sportscar thing. It's not that I don't get the car thing. Oh no. I love me some cars. It's sportscars I just don't covet. I think it's because I know I'll never- or rarely- get to open it up good here. I'd rather have comfort- plush self warming seats, electronics and gadgets and my Pandora, electricly adjustable seating, - comfort I can feel every day when I get in the ride. Aspects that make every ride a joy, not jst the occasional highway romp. |

That's Truvy from a beauty parlor scene in Steel Magnolas- excellent movie. Right up there with Ya Ya Sisterhood for good southern women flicks. Her full line is her describing the swim suit competition of the pageant, "the year I competed, the swimsuit competition was my downfall. Most women look for a swimsuit that will lift and separate. I look for one that will divide and conquer. I've always been built for comfort, not for speed." Truvy was Dolly Parton's character, lotta good lines come out of that movie! |

Sportscars are fun to look at. So are hovercrafts, monster trucks and stretch limos. Owning one would be a different story -- I need a car that is reliable, practical, comfortable, economical and drivable. I guess I'm a lesbian at heart. |

| No, I don't find hovercrafts or monster trucks nearly as fun to look at as certain cars. Maybe you're just a lesbian with lower standards. |

| Some cars are not built to provide transportation; they are built to provide fun.
But I'm probably too fucking old and broken down for either of these two cars. When I had the grey one years ago, it was a bitch getting in and out of it; today it might be impossible for me. And a bit pricey. When I asked if I could get an automatic transmission, the reply was, "Yeah. For about an extra $20,000."
Maybe I should just get another bike. I can get a decent Harley for the extra auto tranny cost. Hey, I've already got the avatar to go with it.
