New (Sept 7) documentary on the life & times of Quincy Jones: musician, producer, arranger, filmmaker, mentor, entrepreneur, bon vivant, pioneer. He has accomplished so much in so many different fields for so many years it's hard to wrap your head around all of it.

The doc doesn't shy away from his failures: his drinking, and womanizing, and failed marriages. Quincy himself is surprisingly open about all this. He's humble for all his success.

But the scenes of him visiting his old neighborhood, and the stories of growing up poor, really make you realize "only in America."

A+

Watched it again tonight. Still amazing. Still alive. Still relevant.

His comments about the extra burdens of being black are newly resonant.

What an incredible life.
