PostSubject: Play: To Kill A Mockingbird   Tue Feb 20, 2018 6:52 am

Sunday we went to our little local playhouse to see Harper Lee's powerful 1935 drama. They did an EXCELLENT job. Ten minute standing ovation.

I'm usually not much for live theater. The artifice bothers me. I can see the actors up there acting, in sets that look like sets. It's like a bad science fiction movie with spacecraft that are obvious scale models.

But occasionally.... occasionally, if the actors are really good, and really OWN their roles, they can transcend the artifice and deliver a really powerful performance that makes you forget it's a performance. Alas, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times that has happened for me.

Sunday was one.
