There was an opinion piece in the Washington Post today claiming that the televised meeting, showing Trump actually able to talk and be amusing, completely destroyed the critics narrative of Trump being a drooling idiot. Well, I don't recall anyone accusing him of drooling, and the idiot part was somewhat bolstered by the Republicans going into spin mode directly after the meeting. It seems that the reasonable discussion was in some important parts contra to the stated policies of the administration and the congressional Republicans. The piece carried on about how Wolff's book also did Trump a favor by getting rid of Bannon, and provides Trump with an opening to ditch the alt-right that has become associated with this administration. Will he seize this opportunity, the putz asks. Of course, by the time the piece was published, we already had the shithole comment to demonstrate that Trump is perfectly comfortable in his racism.
