Meh, good but not great. There is talk of Laurie Metcalf for an Oscar nomination, but that seems a bit overblown.
The story was kind of a downer, and low key. She plays a mom who is working two shifts trying to provide for her family. Her husband loses his job. Her daughter wants to hang out with the rich girls in her Catholic school.
The daughter wants to be loved but the mom is passive-aggressive, always using criticism to show how much she cares.
Yeah. That's about it.
It was no Arrival.
