Hey, that makes it "natural." Although, one has to wonder, if beavers are not farmed commercially the cost of castoreum has to be relatively high and the use of non-natural chemical substitutes would certainly make economic sense.

I read an article about this just a week or so ago. According to that article, the cost of the yummy substance is very high and there just aren't enough beavers around to provide much of it.

If you read the article, it's clear that there are many sources of vanilla-like flavoring. And while beaver arse-milk is obviously not used very often, apparently it is used at least a little. So, not bullshit, exactly.

Perhaps "bullshit" was the wrong word. It was the claim that beaver ass will replace vanilla beans for widespread commercial use which was denied in the article I read. Sorry, I am unable to provide a link to a magazine.
