I noticed just after the election that it suddenly became uncool to describe Trump voters as stupid or as morons.  There was a 'wait-and-see' attitude during the early months of his administration, to see if maybe the rodeo clown would appoint seasoned diplomats to do the real work of governing.

Well, that didn't happen.

If anything, the Trump Administration has turned out to be far WORSE than we predicted before the election.

Is it okay to go back to describing Trump voters as "a bunch of Bubbas"?

Personally, I never stopped. If you look at a typical group, like, say, Kansas: they voted Republican and voted for Trump because they believed all the campaign talk was just rhetoric, and the Republicans would never take away their healthcare. So they get what they voted for, and the Republicans are not only taking away their healthcare, they are working on taking away their food stamps and social security too.

Fuck 'em, fuck 'em all. I don't think that states should be allowed to secede. I think some of the dumbshit states (Texas, Kansas, Mississippi, maybe more) ought to get kicked out of the union. They don't like the US government? Let them live without it. Or any of the money they suck from the blue-state teats.

Federally-enforce the Confederacy?

But Trump won the Rust Belt too.  I see this as nothing less than the failure of the American education system.  There are way too many terminally-stupid people who get their "news" from Fox, and have no critical judgment facility, no appreciation for verifiability, no understanding of the broader world.

I don't believe he really did. But certainly there were a lot of idiots in those states.

Ship of Fools

The reality was actually not hard to foresee.

In China, Trump becomes the capitulator-in-chief

Trump says U.S. won’t be ‘taken advantage of anymore.’ Hours later, Pacific Rim nations reach deal on trade without America.

Good rant. About 3x longer than it needs to be, but a good rant nonetheless.

Do you suppose the country really will heal after Trump? I have my doubts. 92% of Trump supporters think he's doing a good job. 38% of the country at large approve of the job he's doing.

That's an awful lot of bubbas.

No, I don't think the country will "heal". The best you can hope for is that fair elections get reinstated. Then the fundamentalist bigots will be outvoted again, and sensible government can start happening.
