"Sabbath Mode"

Our new oven has a "Sabbath mode" for fooling god.  God he must be a stupid god!

I've not heard of that for an oven. What does it do?

The hospital has a sabbath elevator. On Friday/Saturday, one of the elevators runs continuously, stopping at every floor. That's so the conservative Jews can get around without having to push a button.

Orthodox Jews cannot do any work on the Sabbath.  This is interpreted as no cooking, no use of electrical devices, not even any on-off  switches.

Therefore, in order to fool god, the oven will cook a meal Sabbath-eve (what's that, Friday?) and hold it at a safe temperature to be eaten the next day.  

This would be absolutely hilarious if somebody made it up for a cartoon.

Does it have a sniffer in it so that the oven will not turn on when it detects pork (or as my Jewish friends call it: pink chicken)?

How about a Satanist mode, where all the food is cooked at 666 degrees?
