PostSubject: Calories versus Kilocalories   Fri Oct 14, 2016 8:06 am

Looking at my elliptical, which has a readout on how many calories you've supposedly burned, I'm struck again by the food industry's power in labeling where food is labeled in "calories" but they're really kilocalories.

When my exercise equipment says I've burned off 100 calories, it's not the equivalent of a Nabisco 100-calorie snack pack.

Oh no.

It's 1/1000th of that.

A candy bar has more energy than a stick of dynamite -- just released much slower.
