When I worked for Cisco I got subscribed (against my will) to their in-house newspaper which they call The Internet Protocol Journal. It's always full of incomprehensible articles about obscure technical details that nobody gives a rat's ass about.
And often it's unintentionally hilarious.
For instance, the latest edition has this chart, which somebody A) felt needed explaining with a chart, B) required column inches to reprint as a chart, and C) was an important enough point that the graphics department was engaged to turn it into a chart.
I can't cut-and -paste the actual thing, but the contents of the chart is as follows:
- Quote :
- Figure 5: Five-Point Rating Scale
SCORE.........LABEL
5....................Excellent
4....................Good
3....................Fair
2....................Poor
1....................Bad
It's too bad I can't show you the real chart, because it's beautifully rendered.
This, in a nutshell, is very typical of Cisco -- can't see the forest for the trees. Focus on meaningless minutae. Unfathomable depth in 3 inches of water.
