Just watching episodes of "Adam Ruins Everything" online, the show is interrupted three times by 3:30 worth of commercials -- and they can't be fast forwarded. Once I figured this out it was fairly easy to go do something else (read email, post to forums) for a couple minutes.
Makes me wonder.
What would I like to be free for the cost of sitting through advertising?
Movies. Theaters make their money on popcorn sales anyway. If the movie had bathroom breaks I could live with it.
Books. A few pages of ads would easy to bypass. Magazines do it?
Gasoline. If I had to listen to an ad while I filled up that'd be okay.
Not okay: groceries. Restaurants. Toll roads. Clothing.
