The big money favorite Marco Rubio just pulled out.  He lost his home state of Florida, by double digits.  Ouch.

That leaves Trump.

Cruz is not even possible, due to his unpopularity within the party, and Kasich is mathematically unable to get the nomination.

So... Trump it is.  Woo-hoo!

I don't fool myself that Clinton will get 90% in the general... But she could get 65% or more.

It's Trump if the party allows it to be.

The rules can be changed before any voting takes place. The new rules could negate the requirement for delegates to vote for their state's winner.

Will the Republicans show the balls to do this? I doubt it.

65% for Hillary is unthinkable. I'll settle for 50.1 percent.

By the general?  I don't think so.

Donald will not wear well in the next eight months.  If there is a single Trump-Clinton debate (which I doubt he'd agree to) she'll wipe the dais with him.

No way.  It would explode the GOP to deny him the nomination after today.

The only avenue, practically speaking, is a third party. At this point the Koch-led coalition of donors has about 2-3 times the money of the GOP, so they could, theoretically, submit a candidate to the national race.

But who? No candidate stands out. Paul Ryan isn't popular enough. Dennis Leary isn't serious enough. And Oprah isn't for sale, so far as I know.

The chief danger that only 35% of the voters show up. If that happens it could easily be that the vote goes 25-10 in favor of Trump.

  • Newt Gingrich?  Still a Koch favorite, though he hasn't shown any voter power.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger?  Not US-born.  (Though the "Demolition Man" option remains...)
  • Clint Eastwood?  I think he pretty well eliminated himself at the last convention.
  • Sean Hannity?  Don't laugh.
  • Marco Rubio?  He gave up his Senate seat to run for president, so he's unemployed now.
  • Scott Walker?  Another Koch favorite.  He's young and photogenic -- but wildly unpopular in his home state.
  • Joni Ernst?  It might be a smart move to pull a woman -- but she's inexperienced
  • Sarah Palin? Please god no.
