| This is a mnemonic for remembering the names of the streets of downtown Seattle. - Wikipedia wrote:
- In Seattle, the names of the twelve streets in the heart of the central business district are paired by their first letters. From south to north, they are: Jefferson, James, Cherry, Columbia, Marion, Madison, Spring, Seneca, University, Union, Pike, Pine. One way to remember the order of the street pairs is with the mnemonic "Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest",[1] (JCMSUP).
First Avenue runs along the waterfront (or just about). From First to about Sixth is considered the heart of downtown. From Sixth on up to Eleventh or Twelfth you're up on Capitol Hill above downtown. I used to work at 900 East Pine, 9th & Pine. This job is the site of all of my recurring dreams of getting lost trying to get back to 9th & Pine or trying to get home from 9th & Pine. I keep ending up in the heart of downtown (3rd & Pike or 4th & University), and can't figure out which direction is uphill(?) I think maybe if I memorized the mnemonic I could stop the fever dreams. |
