| I wonder why more media outlets aren't drawing this comparison: fiery speaker denounces immigrants as the source of all his country's problems, promises to limit immigration to protect local jobs, presents popular but simplistic solutions to complex problems.
I was just reading the Amazon reviews on Trump's book, "Crippled America: How To Make America Great Again" and the five star reviewers all sound like Jack-booted thugs sent out to smash shop windows. |

| I think Ted Cruz is more deserving of the Hitler connection. Trump is an idiot, but I think Cruz is very dangerous, and is in a position to take the nomination when Trump and Carson crash.

| The Cruz strategy is to not criticize Trump, and to stay vaguely supportive of him. The idea is that when Trump finally crashes and burns, Cruz can steal his supporters and thus the nomination. He's not the only one employing this strategy, but he's the most dangerous. He is doing well at wooing the religious right. If he gets all the racists too, he will have quite a decent base. It will be a base that rational human beings wish didn't exist, and (as with the Republican party as a whole) it will be a base of two parts that really dislike each other, if they stop and think about it. But still...
The interesting prospect is that Trump may not crash and burn. The racist constituency in the US is much larger than many people want to admit. It's true that it's not large enough to get him elected, but it may well be large enough to get him the nomination. What will Cruz and the others do if it looks like Trump will win the Republican nomination? |

| Distancing yourself from the most popular candidate probably isn't a winning strategy.
Expecting Trump to self-destruct might be wishful thinking.
However I have trouble imagining who Trump might choose as his running mate -- none of the other candidates certainly. Maybe some business associate he trusts. Maybe nobody. The Donald does not need a Mini Donald. |

| It's not exactly distancing. He's trying to find a balance point where when Trump crashes, he doesn't take Cruz with him, and at the same time, he's close enough that he looks a plausible alternative for Trump's supporters. The reason why I said he looks the most dangerous is because I think he's doing the best job of it. |

| The Trump-as-Hitler comparison is gaining mainstream acceptance, though I still don't hear the level of abhorrence that should provoke. - Quote :
- None of this describes Donald Trump. It’s impossible to imagine the effete reality-show billionaire at the head of a Beer Hall Putsch or going to prison as a martyr for his cause. His supporters are violent, frightening, boorish mobs but they’re nothing at all like an army, not even the ersatz army the SA were. And despite how ugly things have gotten in the United States during the War on Terror we are still comfortably the world’s wealthiest superpower; Weimar Germany would be lucky to have our problems.

| Bernie Sanders has got hold of the wrong end of the stick. - Bernie Sanders' campaign wrote:
- Donald Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from coming to the United States isn’t just deeply offensive, it’s dangerous. Especially as it empowers his supporters to act out against Muslims, Latinos, and African Americans.
Trump is dangerous, but not just because his supporters might harm American Muslims (which is bad enough). What's much, much worse is the image of America this portrays overseas, and how it affects the radicalization of moderate peace-loving Muslims all across the globe. By making them not welcome in the USA, Trump is creating a whole new generation of trouble for Americans everywhere. |

| So it is. Sorry, I didn't read it before.
I hadn't heard about Ford before. It does look like a good parallel. |

| I'm not at all worried about the Trump. His supporters account for about six to eight percent of the electorate - about the same number of people who believe the moon landing was a fake.

| He's threatening to run as an independent when the GOP inevitably fails to nominate him. He has the money to do so.
Doing so will guarantee a victory for whomever the Dems put forward, by splitting the wacko vote. You may not be worried about him but Reince Prebus's sphincter is puckered. |

| Trump was pressed about running as an independent in Tuesday's debate, and promised not to (for what his promises are worth -- he's already reversed his positions on almost everything). Still, he remains the front runner, with one recent poll showing him having more support than all his other competitors combined.
I think it's time to face the possibility he might be nominated.
If nominated there's not much chance he could win, but even an extended campaign would be injurious to this country. In some ways he can do MORE damage as a candidate, because he polarizes the country and the world at large. He also distracts the electorate from debating and discussing the real problems facing the country --
Which might be the real reason he's still in the race. Could the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson be secretly funding him to keep the lid on climate change? |

| Are you sure it's photoshop? It probably is; Trump has a smaller, more weaselly mouth. |

| But even discarding the photoshopped image, you must admit that there is a great resemblance. Especially in the attitude. |

| It's not too far a reach to accept that, given Drumpf's insane performances.
