The goal of terrorism is to terrorize.
On the "Why We Fight" documentary, the filmmaker makes the point that the US government spends 22% of its budget on defense. That is a higher percentage than any other country on earth (China is 16%, NATO countries are under 5%) and the US defense budget is larger than all the other defense budgets in the world, combined.
By spending all this money defending the empire, the infrastructure needs of the empire go neglected: education, roads & bridges, health care, etc. The US is near the bottom of the list of all countries in providing for its citizens. Highest poverty rate in the developed world, etc.
So the empire rots from within. This is not the first time in history this has happened, and the examples in history of other empires who have gone this route is not encouraging.
So, smart cars should be avoided because they might become smart bombs? Genetic research should be avoided because it might lead to terrorist pathogens? What's next, citizens should avoid walking outdoors because satellites can be used to target us?
The climate of fear should be laughed off.
We'll never take back our country if we're afraid of everything.
