I have electronic Scrabble on my iPhone and iPad, and sometimes turn to it when my book is boring. Like right now. I like to play against the computer because it gives a higher level of randomness than playing yourself. You can set the computer to Basic, Intermediate or Expert, and I have won 25 of 29 games against Intermediate (Basic is no challenge at all, and Expert is impossible to beat). My high game score was 385, and I have gotten 72 point words twice ("breezes" and "toothier").
Often the computer will play words I've never heard of. Sometimes I use this to my advantage by trying words (there is no penalty) that I've made up. Today it took "educt."
My sister like to play four player games playing all four hands herself. She's really good. She once got over a hundred points on the opening move by using all seven tiles with a word having a lot of qs and zs. When I play her she always wins by at least a hundred points.
