I see the pictures. I don't know what it is, though. Looks like some random piece of plumbing.

I still can't figure out why anyone who create that particular plumbing bit. That trap feeding into an air gap makes no sense.

That is a piece I happened to walk past, and I thought "What the Hell is it?" and snapped a picture.

I have no answers. It was outside a restaurant, iirc. Maybe some kind of pressure relief valve for an oil cooker?
