I had no idea the machine makers had gone this far with their dubious claims of licensing supplanting ownership. Horrible.

To make matters worse, the software provided by many manufacturers is, at best, second rate. It is very common for car enthusiasts to modify the software controlling their engines - primarily the fuel injection systems. They don't do this to copy music (MY God, John Deere is stupid!), but to get better performance and fuel mileage out of an engine - with just a few tweaks to the values in the injection system.
