I was speaking of somewhat more advanced technology.
Much of my disgust is with the lack of operating standards. Anymore, when you get a new car you have to RTFM before you can DTFC. That's ludicrous. And don't even think about having an intuitive interface with a new computer.
Last night I was connecting my wife's phone to the new car the bank gave her to drive (it's a real POS but all expenses are paid by the bank). The steps needed to connect were very different from hew own car. The instructions in the manual (in 6-point type) were lacking in specificity. There are four sets of buttons on the steering wheel, lots of buttons on the console, and a touch screen which is not well-defined or intuitive. Example: "Press the Phone button." There are two buttons with a picture of a phone. Trial and error - mostly error.
So I started pondering which of all the new gadgets provide sufficient benefit to overcome the cost and hassle. Couldn't think of many.
PS: Had the garbage disposal removed. I had also removed the disposal in our old house. I don't like the damn things.
