Net Neutrality Empty
PostSubject: Net Neutrality   Net Neutrality EmptyWed Feb 04, 2015 5:56 pm

I was concerned when Obama appointed a communications lobbyist to the position of head of the FCC, but maybe the guy has had his head rewired.
The news today is that the FCC is going to classify the internet as a utility.
This is only the start of making the damned internet free from the predations of big business, but at least it's a start.

We can hope.

Brian Roberts has been lobbying but maybe now that he's a lame duck Obama may not be listening.
Quote :

Since 2006, Roberts made more than $76,000 in political contributions to Democrats and $13,500 in contributions to Republicans. [16]

In December 2009, he wrote a letter to President Barack Obama endorsing his Affordable Care Act.[17] He was named to President Obama's Jobs and Competitiveness Council in February, 2011.
