| I think Wavy Gravy is wayyyy more likely.

| Rats! That was too easy. What gave it away? It was just Hugh when I met him. I think the Wavy Gravy thing came later. |

| I reviewed Saint Misbehaving for Amazon last year, and edited the Wikipedia page on The Whole Earth Catalog. Also, watched Woodstock. |

| I had never heard of Saint Misbehaving. Looks interesting, so I ordered it. Thanks for the clue.

| I liked it. A lot. Learned a lot about Wavy, and most of it was good. |

| That's nice to hear. I've never really known much at all about Hugh - sorry, Wavy; other than just another guy from my past. It should be interesting to learn what has become of him. |

| Wavy is the embodiment of the idealism i mentioned in my What Went Wrong thread. He has not lost his compass. |

| I think you'll find that is true of a good many of the counter-culture denizens. Not the weekend hippies who just came out for the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll (the great majority of the young people), but those who truly embraced the movement's more significant social ideals.

| Let me know what you think of Saint Misbehavin' after it arrives. I'm curious your reaction. |

| That's perfectly acceptable, though perhaps anachronistic, English. |

I just finished watching it. All I can say right now is, "Color me nostalgic." |

| Yes. I was not aware of his many accomplishments - and am somewhat pleasantly surprised by them - but the man remains the same. Older and fatter now, but the same gregarious nature and possibly the most sincerely nice man I've ever met. The movie, I think, portrays him accurately in that respect.
I was surprised to find out that he had participated in the protests against the opening of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant (I can't quite see it from my house). My wife, many friends from the university, and I were involved in the protests on a more or less permanent basis. I knew Jackson Browne was involved because he had a bunch of T-shirts printed at a company where my wife was the production manager. I can't now recall whether she met him there or met him earlier and that's why they got the T-shirt job. At any rate, I had a bunch of free Jackson Browne T-shirts.
I met Hugh in New Mexico in 1969. I was staying with a friend (a refugee from Hungary). One night we went over to see a woman who was , I believe, his doctorate advisor, and there was an old bus and several VW vans parked on the street, with people wandering around, in and out of the house, some wearing just towels. They were members of the Hog Farm and were on their way to the airport. They stopped by Elizabeth's house, primarily for many of them to take showers. That's where I met Hugh.
