Okay. I googled them. We're keeping the rain.

I cannot recall ever having watched a pro football game.
Maybe I did when I was a kid, but I don't remember it if I did.

10-9.
Lucky for the Seahawks that the Minnesota kicker had athletes foot, Or maybe the problem was that he didn't have athletes foot.

Seahawks had no business winning that game. They played pitifully.

I can only hope, cynic that I am, that the oddsmakers paid Blair Walsh enough to make it worth throwing away his career.

I have no idea what any of that means or who Blair Walsh is.

My wife had the game on and I saw the last 22 seconds. She told me what happened with the kick.

He was the kicker who missed. Noco is suggesting the fix was in.

We have had an inch of rain this morning, with predictions of heavy rainfall later this afternoon. I pity those poor people who will suffer from mud slides because of the fires and drought.

Feast or famine, to use a slightly inappropriate metaphor.

It's been raining pretty steady in Seattle for a couple of months. Yesterday we had a rare bout of sunshine and it took me a minute to identify it.

It's been raining pretty steadily in Seattle for the past few centuries, hasn't it?

Now up to 1.1 inches today (which may be the wettest one day in several years, or close to it). Gives us 6.2 inches for the year (since July 1), with half of that falling in January. A few years ago, we only got three inches in twelve months, so things might be improving. Okay, I know it's just El Nino and we will be back to drought conditions in a few months, but I am going to pretend for a while.

I'm spending a lot of time down in Jacksonville, putting up with temperatures in the 50s, 60s, and 70s and bright sunshine. Now I'm back in NYC for a few days. Had an appointment at the bank this morning - 19F. Came home during the heat of the day, 28F. Rain would be chunky. Jax is looking better and better.

I just heard from my daughter in Brooklyn. It looks like there is a very nasty storm headed your way.

My daughter has all kinds of expensive cold weather gear that she has bought since moving back there, but when it gets really cold, like today, she always wears my old fifty-year-old pea coat. She says nothing else is as warm.

I had a pea coat once.  It was only warm when it was dry.

And yes, Seattle has been raining for millennia.  On my drive home from the bookstore I passed some woods, and was remarking to myself that all the tree trunks I could see were green with moss.  Even in urban greenbelts the place looks like a fucking rain forest.

Which I happen to love.
Sans palms.

Was it an old, authentic navy pea coat? The only problem with getting them wet was that they got heavy. They were merino wool, which gave no problems in the rain. The only time I wore mine was in 1963 in Memphis, Tenn. Cold winters there.

My pea coat was probably a cheap knockoff, this during 1969-1971 when they were fashionable and when I couldn't find a blue one I settled for burgundy. It was unique. Didn't fold up into a ball worth a crap though.

If it was burgundy, it most definitely was not a real pea coat.

The rain this morning is torrential, we have a metal roof so it is clearly audible plus the cap over our chimney "pings" every time it is hit.

I had to turn my music up.

Well, we got a bit more than average rain in January, giving us a total of 7.3 inches since July first. So far, we have had zero rainfall for February (which is historically wetter than January) and there is none predicted through the 22nd.

Hell, it's eighty degrees outside right now. El Nino is not doing its job.

I'm still putting up with Florida. They've had more snow in Brooklyn, I hear.

Yes, they have. My daughter will be here next week; I'm sure she will enjoy the weather.

I'm actually considering turning on the A/C. And it's Febbing Fuckuary!

Real pea coats are fucking awesome. I grew up with one that my grandmother replaced every year. As an adult I have never been able to afford them on my own.

We had a shit ton of rain here. The creek swelled and I found myself beating on the deputy mayor's door at 7 that night demanding the guard come out with some supplies because we were about to lose all the houses on this end of the block. I reminded him about the tax base my neighborhood represents. So, me, the frat boys next door, and some guys from the Guard were out there in the pouring rain bagging until 3 am. It was so ridiculous. Cars had to be moved up the hill. My neighbor was gone and his dogs were in a foot of water on his porch so I snagged them and left my moose so he'd get the idea of who had been there and brought the dogs in with me over here. Laziest labs ever! Which was good because I was beat at that point. Oh, and we had to chainsaw up a large limb that had fallen in front of Willow, the mini horse's stable. Which sucked because I got water in something and now my chainsaw is giving me crap- I can't crank it and get it to stay. I need to take it and have it seen to but now that Sears is gone I have no idea who works on chainsaws. Rolling Eyes

So now it's cold post rain but it will get in the sixties pretty quick here.

Jenni,
You should look on eBay. There are a lot of regulation pea coats there for little money.

I can't believe that my old coat is still serviceable after fifty-four years, but my daughter tells me it's in perfect condition.

You have too much rain and we have far too little. If there was a god he would spread it around evenly, don't you think?

My daughter sent me a screen shot of her weather  yesterday. It showed a wind chill of -14. I sent her one a while ago, showing us with 75 degrees today. It should cheer her up, because she will be here tomorrow.

Weather sucks.

It's warmed up a bit today - the wind chill is up to +10. We'll be heading back to Brooklyn later this week. It should be above freezing by then.
